Predictably Palin took advantage of the situation in order to take further pot shots against the Obama administration. Palin wants healthcare repealed and thinks that Obama didn't show leadership during the Egyptian crisis. She also feels that climate change is over rated, that there is no need for new gun control legislation and that US oil supplies are not being properly utilized thereby leaving the US reliant on foreign supplies of oil.
Palin even took time to mock Michelle Obama's initiative to promote breastfeeding and the spiralling cost of milk when she jeered that:
It's no wonder that Michelle Obama is telling everybody you better breastfeed your baby, and I'm looking around and saying, yeah, you better, because the price of milk is so high.......You know, do it for economic reasons!
Of course, most moms know that cows milk and dairy should not be given to a child before they are a year old because young infants cannot easily digest dairy products. Cows milk is also known to hinder the release of iron so it is not a good substitute for either breast milk or formula. Given these facts, and regardless of how pithy she thought it was, Palin's quip against Michelle's initiative actually turns out to be yet another hollow remark that doesn't quite hit home.
However, despite Palin's lack of ingenuity, some still think that she came near to announcing her plans for 2012 when she teasingly ticked off the qualities that she believes are essential for a successful candidate for president. Laughing she said:
I don’t have a name to give you right now, but what I would look for in terms of character and in terms of experience would be someone who's been on the front lines understanding what it is, how to administer and how to lead a team and how to run a business. So that person you know, oh gosh, I think, you know nobody is more qualified really to multitask and do all the things that you need to do as president than a woman and a mom. So, I would, adding that all up what I would look for is somebody who is, let’s start off with, a woman, a mom, somebody who's administered locally, state, interstate, with energy issues, so maybe a mayor, a governor, an oil commissioner, maybe someone who's already for vice president.
Her description of that person sounds an awful lot like … her.
Palin knows who she would vote for and there was at least one person in the audience who would vote for her too. Her daughter Bristol who has stated several times that she thinks that her mom should run for the highest office in the United States because "she's a mom, because she runs a household and I just think she's really smart." Perhaps it was Bristol who advised her mom on the shoes.
Breaking News - Frank Bailey's book leaked - The "Alaska Dispatch" reports:
Even before an ex-aide to former Gov. Sarah Palin had sold his memoir, the book -- "Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin: A Memoir of Our Tumultuous Years" -- has now been leaked to the media, including to a reporter at Alaska Dispatch on Thursday night.
"Blind Allegiance" is the story of Palin aide and confidant Frank Bailey's time spent working for the governor, from when she announced she was running for governor until her abrupt resignation in 2009. Heavily relying on e-mails between Bailey, Sarah and ex-First Dude Todd Palin, his memoir begins near the end of Palin's governorship with the following line:
On April 28, 2009, Sarah wrote a simple, but frequently repeated message: I hate this damn job...
Among other things, the book alleges illegal coordination between Palin and the Republican Governors Association during her 2006 governor's race, something that she denied at the time. Although Bailey knew that such coordination violated campaign laws, he writes:
As far as dealing with a guilty conscience, I'd suffer that collateral damage in silence, not daring to even discuss this with my wife.
The book ends with the following epiphany:
I will never, ever, surrender blind allegiance to anyone again, save God and family.

UPDATE - Moderate Alaskan Republican and outspoken Palin-critic Andrew Halcro apparently has a copy of the book as well and reports on his blog:
February 18, 2011: It seems Frank Bailey, the right hand man to former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has decided to take a little bit of the former governor's advice; he's reloading instead of retreating.

In short, the book does one thing that would make me want to buy it; the book validates everything I've ever written or said about Sarah Palin.
Bailey's book reveals a narcissistic liar who was an incompetent governor and a manipulative self promoter who would stop at nothing to destroy those who crossed her. His accounts of her treatment of friends and foes alike, along with her penchant for always playing the victim is astonishing in it's historical clarity.

In the foreword of his 456-page manuscript, entitled “Blind Alliegance to Sarah Palin: A Memoir of Our Tumultuous Years,” Bailey says Palin e-mailed him, “I hate this damn job” days before she resigned as governor in July 2009. The book goes on to describe Palin’s staff targeting political opponents for personal retribution, through a variety of public channels.+++
“We set our sights and went after opponents in coordinated attacks, utilizing what we called ‘Fox News surrogates’, friendly blogs, ghost-written op eds, media opinion polls (that we often rigged), letters to editors, and carefully edited speeches,” Bailey wrote. “Nobody needed to be told what to do; we understood Sarah’s silent mandate to do something now.” (parentheses and italics in original)
Bailey says he regretted his actions on Palin’s behalf, describing them as contrary to the Christian principles in which he believed.
“I have no doubt Sarah's belief in God was real and passionate. Hers just wasn’t the same God I knew growing up, the one who preached the importance of love, honor, and charity,” Bailey wrote. “That I turned my back on these teachings and offered her blind allegiance is a cross I will forever bear.”
One of the co-authors of the book, Ken Morris, told Channel 2 the manuscript leaked was an “unauthorized draft.” Morris said the writing team’s intent was “to be 100 percent true,” but he said the whole book was subject to change.
“This was an unethical breach and I’m disgusted by it,” Morris said.
Morris said the book had no scheduled release date and currently has no publisher.
